Finn's Fifth

Finn turned five on April 28th. That means kindergarten in the Fall and the end of daycare. He's loving preschool and I think he's really looking forward to going to the same big school as Julia in the Fall. When Mandy's parents visited for Julia's 1st Communion, Finn got to do some early celebrating of his birthday.

We decided to do a family weekend get-away the weekend of Finn's birthday. First stop was the Children's Museum.

The temporary exhibit was Grossology, and it frequently lived up to it's name!

Julia made sure to locate the kidney in the Operation-type game.

Julia the turtle!

And then brave enough to mount the giant ant!

The kids were cute sitting together to watch a short singing and dancing number performed by a local theater group.

The water contraptions are always interesting for child and parent alike.

Julia self-painted a tree one her face.

After the museum we headed to our hotel. I requested a floor as high up as we could get and it paid off - we had a great view of downtown Minneapolis from the 23rd floor.

Finn opened a few presents from us before we went swimming.

The birthday boy requested that we dress up for our night out. We went out to a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant. Finn apparently appreciated it.

It was a fun meal and the kids enjoyed the chef's antics. Julia even had to dodge a raw egg that got away from the chef. Finn finished off the meal with birthday ice cream.

The next morning we went swimming one more time and Finn and Mandy put together one of his new lego sets.

Back at home, Skippy was sure glad to have us back.

The following weekend, we met my parents in Eau Claire for lunch.

Finn, once again, was happy to see what he could build with his new toys.
